Considering 5 days in Ireland/Northern Ireland with local guides/day trips. In addition to Dublin and Belfast, what are good day trips from those cities? Are there any self or local-guided close recommendations for some local color--maybe farm visit or?
With just five days on the ground you could spend all of that time in both cities seeing the local sights and museums. Outside of each city I wouldn’t get too ambitious as you really don’t have a lot of time. A popular day trip from Dublin is a Newgrange tour that might also include Monasterboice and the Hill of Tara. From Belfast a popular day trip would be up to the Giant’s Causeway with Carrick-a-rede and Bushmills. But there are many other choices. Personally, I think each city needs at least two days. Without a car, and such limited time, you may find it too time consuming to get many places too far from the city. Guided day tours will be your best bet. Local transit is meant to work for commuters, not tourists (although it can if you have the time).
