Booster Seats in rental car

Hello:

We are very excited to be traveling to Ireland in two weeks. We will be renting a car and driving for most of the time we are there. I have two children (8 and 10) and the 10 year old no longer uses a booster seat in the US. However, I understand they are required in Ireland. Is this accurate? Does it go by height? Weight? Age? Is it worth bringing two booster seats from home or renting through the car company?

Thanks!

Rent through the car agency rather than have the hassle of dragging car seats all over Europe. Not familiar with Ireland requirements but it is possible that the rental company may be required to provide the seats. Just check with them carefully.

From what I can gather by a quick search, EU law states that children over 12 OR greater than or equal to 135 cm in height can wear adult seat belts. Under that, it seems they need booster seat (car seat for younger kiddos).

I agree with verifying with the rental car company, AND I'd probably rent from them. EU will have it's own regulations on seats, and an American one may not be compatible.
