Four of us all adults, plan to be in the Dingle area for 3 days the week of May 20, we are thinking about taking the Blasket Islands tour with Blasket islands Experience Company, that runs a tour 11 am till 5pm with tour of island and sea life. has anyone done this and is it worth the trip. Suggestion's?
Last summer, we did the rib boat ride out of Dingle to the Blaskets. We didn’t land onto any of the islands but it was pretty amazing to see the seals, dolphins, and puffins and to sail around that area.
We visited Great Blasket Island in Sept. 2022. I am not sure if the company you are looking at is the one we used. It took about an hour to get there from the pier in Dingle and an hour to get back. We had a few hours on the island which which we really enjoyed. Please be aware that there are no restrooms or services on the island so do your business before you get off the boat and bring a lunch with you that you can pack out. We had a gorgeous sunny day. I don’t know if the boat goes if it is rainy and I wouldn’t want to go in the rain anyway. It is best to book the tour the morning that you plan to go. Edited to add - The company was Dingle Boat Tours. We just walked up and bought our tickets that morning.
There are at least three piers that provide Blasket tours. You can trade off leaving from Dingle town, from Ventry, or Dunquin. With longer drives or longer boat time. Each pier has a different weather exposure, so cancellations are not always consistent between ports although most are due to Blasket landing conditions, not departure port.
There's a spectacular Blasket museum near Dunquin that you need to see, no matter how you go.
