Blasket Islands or Skellig Michael?

We will be in the Dingle area for 2 days (Mon/Tues) in the middle of September. Which of these 2 destinations was your favorite? Thanks!

We did not do either but if I had to or could pick, I would choose skellig Michael. With that being said, you need to book way in advance and the boat does not always make it out. We were at the skellig Michael experience centre at the end of July on a beautiful clear day and all boats had been cancelled due to rough seas. The blasket islands are a little easier I think to get to.

Enjoy your trip!

I have not been to the Blasket Islands, but even if the water is calm enough for the boats to go to Skellig Michael, make sure you have a strong stomach. One-third of the people on our boat were sea sick the entire time - which was approximately 2 hours.

We spent the day on the Blasket Islands and it was spectacular. We caught a boat in Dingle town the morning of and it was just glorious. The ride was an hour each way and no one was sea sick. Depending on your mobility be aware that the boat will take you close and then you transfer to a rubber zodiac to make the landing.

I went to Skellig Michael in July of this year. Wow, it was an absolutely amazing place. I believe our boat took an hour and 15 minutes to get there. Must be aware of how you're stepping on the stone steps. I was a little nervous at first, but no problems going up or down. For me, it was the highlight of my Ireland trip!
Have a fun adventure!
