Two couples are trying to decide the best way to cover Dublin to Belfast to Giant's Causeway & Coastal beauty to Donegal & on to Sligo area. We have 2 days & nights in Dublin & 10 days to do the rest. We are looking for a base or bases of operation so we don't have to pack & move each day. Any suggestions on the best places to stay that would allow us to stay for 3 or 4 nights in one place. It would also be great to be able to access good local food, pubs & music in the evening.

I suggest you consider staying in or near to Belfast for say 3 or 4 nights; then moving on to Letterkenny for 3 nights; then move down to Sligo and stay for 3 nights, leaving a day/night to travel back to Dublin. This way, you can cover things you want to see without more than a 50 or so mile (one-way) drive from each base, maximum. All locations are close to the major routes, yet are also close to the key areas and things to see.
