Do you have Rick's Ireland or Snapshot Dublin book? In these he describes the various methods, including two different bus routes (there is no train). Which method is "best" depends on where your hotel is, as well as how many are traveling and your budget.
So, if you post some of these specifics, others can give more specific guidance.
Thank you I am staying on 23-27 Molesworth Street in Dublin at the hotel Rick Steves suggested . It is right across the street from the National Museum.
I have the Ireland book.
If you are going to be in Dublin for a few days, pick up the Leap Visitor Card at the airport shop. The Leap Card is valid fare for the buses into the city.
I used the Aircoach.
I felt is was very reasonable. I believe it was betweem 7 and 8.5 euros each way. They do have the options to purchase a round trip fare.

The Leap Card seems like a great deal: €19.50 for 72 hours of bus/tram/Dart travel in Dublin County. (see above email link)
All: I think they have recently added a tram from the airport; however, my RS book doesn't mention it, although the updates do. We are thinking of taking the tram into the city to St. Andrew Square and then just taking a taxi to the B&B (this is a compromise between taking the bus all the way versus a taxi all the way from the airport). Thoughts?
We were recently in Dublin. While there is a third Tram line being built, it does not involve the airport, nor do the current red and green lines, nor is any Airport Tram shown on the Dublin transit site. However, they do connect with the Airport Express and 747 buses, if these stops are not convenient to where you need to be inside the city.
You say going to "St Andrews Square" and then to your B and B. I see no "St Andrews Square" listed, but I see a St Andrews Steet which is 150 meters from where the 747 bus will stop. Where is your B and B? I would check their information as to the best way to get to them, which may be foot or tram form one of the buses.
My bad! I confused the Ireland Forum with the Scotland Forum. I meant to ask about the tram from the Edinburgh airport--clearly not in Ireland. I can certainly appreciate the confusion, sorry.
Which explains why most of my attempts to look up "St. Andrews Square" were taking me into Edinburgh!
The tram stop at St. Andrews Square is a two minute downhiill walk to Waverly Station. I've taken the tram to the airport and it was very easy and convenient. There are racks for your luggage
Frank II: Thanks so much for your post. It confirmed what I thought and will likely be the option we take next week as we begin a three-week journey through Scotland and Ireland. Just be ready for pushback from my travel companion when I tell her that you recommended taking the tram into Edinburgh and a taxi from Waverley station instead of a taxi from the airport. :)

Darrel we took the tram from EDI to the end of the line (York Place) and thn had a 1/4 mile walk to our B&B on Royal Terrace, it was very convenient on our arrival. We had an early flight out so we took a cab from the B&B to the airport and the cab was $35 for my wife and I. The tram was cheap and easy.
