Looking for a private car and driver in Ireland for August, but every company I have contacted is very pricey. 6-900 dollars a day.
anyone know of a cheaper company?

Never had a private driver but I think Scepture tours company does have something like what you are looking for, we have only used them for a self drive tour and they were great, used them twice. Look them up on the net and see what they provide. Good luck.

I have only driven myself and enjoyed doing so. www.autoeurope.com has a section for chauffer hire, but it will still be expensive. If you use a combination of train and bus for getting around, you can add in an occasional taxi with less up-front investment. Or perhaps you'd prefer the ease of a fully guided tour with a couple of dozen instant friends.

Last year he was E300 for a full day of touring...he might negotiate a bit with you, if you use him for multiple days.
He was excellent as a driver and also acted a bit as a tour guide for us.
Has a VW van that can hold eight, but there were just two of us.
We used him for Shannon via Kinsale with lots of stops along the way, then from Kinsale through Dingle, etc. to Dromoland (had a day without touring...so no charge), then from Dromoland thru Ennis, along Coast with a drop off at Cliffs of Moher (while he dropped our luggage at B&B)...that day was about 1/3 day, then a really long day of picking us up at the B&B in Doolin thru The Burren, time in Galway (lunch, shopping, touring time on our own....he advised to check out Key Street), then the long route thru Connemara (via Kylemore) and on up to Ashford Castle (it was a really long, full day of beautiful sites). Then family met us for rest of trip.
He was so reasonable compared to others, and we were so thrilled, we were very kind with an extra gratuity. Everyone in the Doolin area knows Tony, and he makes friends quickly. If you contact him ahead of time, you could ask if he would consider driving further distances (or he may know someone to tag team). He covers his own overnight, meals, fuel, tolls, etc. Having a driver made the trip totally stress-free and it allowed us great flexibility to pace it like we wanted.
