Best route Dublin to County Cork. (Bandon)

We will be arriving in Dublin on Friday 27 June 2014 at around 14:30, pick up our rented car and leave for Newtownmountkennedy for the night. Should we take the route to NMKennedy thtough Sally Gap? The next day we plan to leave early for a sightseeing trip to Bandon in County Cork. Powerscourt, Glendalough and Cahir Castle are must sees for us. I have done a lot of research and it seems like there are a few options for driving to County Cork. 1. From Glendalough via Portlaoise to Bandon. 2. From Glendalough Avaco and Carrik-On-Suir to Bandon. 3. Kilkenny route, but we have been in Kilkenny in 2011. We do not mind to be on the road for the day and see as much as possible.
Any advice is welcome.

I am not sure if you are looking for a direct route or a scenic route. For scenic options a good place to contact is the Irish Tourist Information Office. If you are looking for the fastest route then the site we like is Michelin's website and they give good price estimates.

Via the Sally Gap. Gorgeous route. Watch out for sheep and enjoy the beauty of drive.
