Best Places in Dublin for live music

Hi. My husband and I both love music (he plays bass guitar, I listen) and we'd love to find some great places in Dublin for live music. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

Definitely recommend The Oliver St John Gogarty. Three floors of live Irish music. So fun!

Depends on what type of music you're looking for. For tourist trap trad, anything in Temple Bar, but if you'd like to see other music as enjoyed by the locals, check out this list of upcoming gigs in Dublin - Whelans, Vicar St and the Olympia are all great live venues. The Button Factory is fun too.

The RS guide highly recommends the "Traditional Irish Musical Pub Crawl," and there's a 1-euro discount with the book. However, when we called to book it was already full for the night we would have been able to go.

Also, the outgoing message says no stag or hen parties -- if you book (which requires prepayment) and then you arrive, you'll be denied entry with no refund. (stag & hen are British English for bachelor & bachelorette parties)

I went on the Musical Pub Crawl last July. It was fun, but plan to get out to some more pubs after it's over. Then swing on over to Dingle for the best Irish music.
