Have one day to tour northern Ireland from our hotel in Belfast. Any tour suggestions? I've researched Paddywagon and McComb's Coach Travel so far. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Do you mean a tour of the whole of NI in a day??
Yes. We only have one day.
We just got back and did McComb's Game of Thrones Tour. I can't recommend it highly enough! I didn't even really watch the show (my travel mates were fans) and it was still fascinating. It does all the highlights of the Antrim Coast but adds in even more interest, in my opinion, in showing sites that are gorgeous and interesting enough to be featured in the filming. When talking with the receptionist at our hotel, a young woman in her 20's from the area, she said she'd done the regular (non-Game of Thrones) tour and liked the GOT one better. Hers (it wasn't with McComb's; another company) took them to the Bushmills Distillery but they didn't even take the full tour; she said that part was (in her opinion) much more boring vs. the GOT itinerary. I haven't done both, granted - but everyone on ours loved the GOT tour, so I'd recommend it without hesitation!
Not certain whether a whiskey distillery is a priority for you, but last September we had a rental car and a few days, so toured parts of Northern Ireland on our own. We dropped in at Bushmills with their tour in mind, but a large group had just arrived, and we were told there wasn’t room for us 2 as well, and we’d gave to wait an hour. It was mid morning and we had better things to do than wait around for a view of their facility and a shot of their product, so we moved onwards. Maybe a professional tour company gets priority treatment, and maybe that other group bought several cases, so were better customers.
On whatever Tour you do, you may get pleasant weather, but be prepared for wind and/or rain, just in case.
