Would appreciate any thoughts on some beautiful hikes around 6-8 miles or so in length. Any difficulty is OK (moderate preferred). Not into super-crowed trails. Trip will be late August. Thanks! Al
We had good luck with this website on our last trip: http://www.irishtrails.ie/ Helps that the hikes are organized by county.
Might add that 5 minutes from from the trail heads we had virtually all of hikes to ourselves.
Waterproof boots would be a good idea. Even if it isn't actually raining you're bound to come across boggy areas and stream crossings where waterproof footwear will make all the difference.
aww, give this site a look too!!! http://dingleway.com/ trails listed there if you poke around. dj
Thanks to you both for your reference links - this is exactly what I was looking for. Great stuff!
Also
The Kerry Way which goes around the Iveragh peninsula. A favorite from Waterville is walking over Coomakista to Derrynane Mass Path, then lunch at the Blind Piper, then a walk back. Fantastic. Also there is a Pilgrim Path outside of Cahersiveen that is amazing - Cnoc na d'Tobar. Go on a pretty day!
And lots of villages do walking festivals so good walking festivals with your dates and see if any pop up! And most villages in the hills have Hillwalking Clubs that would love to welcome a new friend!

Terrific suggestion - I'm going to try to fit that walk in! Thanks very much.
