Best area to stay in for 3 night stay in Dublin

Only going to be in Dublin for 3 nights in November at the end of a 3 week driving trip through Ireland. Wondering what area of the city should we be looking to stay. We are a couple in our late 40's and my 74 year old Mom.

Where and why would you recommend?

I appreciate any help as I know nothing about Dublin yet......off to research.

Do you want to stay city center or in a quiet neighborhood out of the city? What is your budget? We need more info. Also, you can do a search on this site as this question has been asked before.

In November you'll be visiting during the low season - colder temps, more rain and shorter days. That time of year you should be able to find reasonable accommodation near the center of the city and so avoid having long walks to get to where you want to go. Central Dublin is really pretty compact. Staying somewhere near St Stephens Green would be good - close to the center of things but still not actually in the Temple Bar area which can be quite noisy in the evenings until the wee hours.
The DART system is handy if you'd rather stay out in one of the suburbs - for example the beachside community of Howth is quite popular and is only a 15 minute ride into the center.

I have stayed in 3 areas of Dublin and loved then all. Near St Stephen's Green by Grafton Street, by the Gand Canal and out in Dun Laoghaire. The Grand canal was nice because it is a little away from the hustle an bustle but still close enough to walk everywhere. St Stephen's green was great to be right in the middle of it all and finally Dun Laogaire was just such a nice seaside spot with only a 15 minute DART right to Dublin.

Perfect options........I never thought about how loud an area can be but I am glad to have it pointed out. We will have a $300 a night budget give or take and prefer to be central and not out in the burbs. Thanks for all the advice.

Check out The Spencer hotel. We loved it. It is in your budget and in the city centre
