Bus, because you can take it from Belfast direct to Dublin airport.
There are three competing bus companies from Belfast to Dublin Airport- all very similar journey times and fares- see numerous other threads on the forum
If you are going directly to th airport, take a bus going directly to the airport.
If you are first going to Dublin itself, take the train.
Given that all the airport buses continue into Central Dublin, so they combine to give between 3 and 6 buses per hour, compared to a train every 2 hours, there is an argument to be made for using the bus into Central Dublin.
There is an argument for the train..you can get up, stretch your legs, use a loo that you don't have to cram yourself into, and on many trains food and drink is available. The train also goes along the coast so it is a more scenic route than going along the highway.
The bus will be about €6 less than the train.
If frequency or slight cost difference is more important, take the bus. If comfort, mobility and scenery are more important, take the train.
Your choice.
(If you are going directly to the airport, take the direct bus.)
