Belfast to Dublin - Travel/Train Question

Hello,

I will be travelling from Belfast to Dublin on Sept 20, so I've been looking at purchasing tickets. If I go on Irish Rail website, I'm able to pick my ticket (as of today), have the option to get a ticket that's good for all day, plus able to get one that goes all the way to Heuston station. I just can't buy it because it originates in Northern Ireland. Prices vary only 4 Euros from least expensive to ones having most options. Conversely, on the Translink Northern Ireland website, tickets are still about a month out, I can't seem to be able to pick Dublin Heuston as a destination, nor can I figure out the differences between the various tickets. Prices vary about 15 pounds. Am I missing something or is there another site that I can visit?

thanks

The train only runs to Dublin Connolly station, so I guess it doesn't surprise me that Translink isn't selling the local LUAS connection from there to Dublin Heuston station. I think you just need to wait for the dates to become available on Translink.

I have been learning the Translink train site attempting to purchase 2 tickets from Belfast to Dublin on Sat, 27 July, 2019. While I am selecting only rail icons, and selecting only train stations, the only options that appear under "select and buy" are for bus trips. I would appreciate a bit of wisdom/guidance as to how to get to the specific train tickets to purchase. I've trolled the Saturday Belfast Lanyon Place schedule/time table and see where there are trains that leave at a variety of times, however, when I put in the specific departure time, the only options that appear are little bus icons. Thank you kindly for your direction/ideas. Lisa

There are long-term engineering works starting that very day meaning you take a bus from Belfast to Newry and change to the train there. I think tou may be better off taking one of the direct coach services to Dublin to avoid all the faffing around.

Below from the Irish Rail site:
Saturday 27th July to Friday 23rd August

Due to engineering works between Portadown and Lisburn the following service alterations will operate;

Belfast services will operate as a train between Dublin Connolly and Portadown only.

Customers traveling to and from Belfast are to change at Newry for a connecting bus transfer
