Belfast to Airport Hotel

We have made the decision to spend the day in Belfast and take bus to Dublin airport late in the day for a morning flight. Having once made the assumption that an airport bus would drop us at an airport hotel (we had to take local bus that dropped us in middle of traffic rotary at 10:00 at night), I will not make that assumption again.

If we take a 5:00 PM bus from Belfast how do we get to a hotel at the airport?

Also, coming close once to missing a flight from hotel shuttle making to many stops, any recommendations for an airport hotel?

I would take a bus that goes directly to the airport and then shuttle or taxi to the hotel from there. I’ve stayed at the premier inn at Dublin airport before a flight and it was quite convenient. A shuttle bus makes a circuit of several hotels near the airport, or just take a cab. (edited to add it was just 10 minutes from hotel to airport on shuttle bus, Cab took about 4 minutes)

I'll be doing this late in the spring, Covid willing. The Aircoach and Translink buses go straight to DUB. Two hotels, the Radisson Blu and Maldron, are right at the airport a short walk from the terminals. They have shuttles as well. The Premier Inn is nearby in Swords, I'm sure it has a shuttle too but you could check its website. There may be others too. I'll probably stay at the Radisson, which seems to have good reviews and is recommended in the RS guidebook, but I can't speak from my own experience.

I'm usually a big fan of Premier Inns, but in your particular case staying at either of the airport hotels Dick mentions would probably be my choice too. Being able to sleep in a bit before strolling over to the terminal would make for a stress-free last day ... and morning.
