In September we are staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Belfast. What is available to get us from the airport to the hotel and back to the airport when we leave? Subway/train, bus?
The easiest route, except a taxi, would be the NI Railways train from Sydenham 3 stops to Botanic then a 10 minute walk. No bus actually passes the HIE so it would be a switch of bus in the City Centre, a bus down the Ormeau Road and a shorter walk.
Sydenham is the airport station.
Belfast has no subway- just a dense network of suburban trains, buses and the Glider (a kind of bus/tram thing).
When I left from Belfast City Airport, I did a Belfast Taxi Tour prior and had them drop me at the airport.
Even a direct taxi is easiest and not that expensive. Only four miles.
Yeah, looks like the taxi is easiest. Only 4 miles from HIE to BCA. I read it's about 15 pounds each way. How does tipping work in Belfast? Is a gratuity included? Or, just give the driver a little something for their time?
How about tipping in restaurants and other places? Thanks so much for the advice. This really helps first timers to Belfast.
