Hello to all,
My husband and I have decided on a home base in Dingle. We will be there see September 5-8. We are looking for quiet B&B with a view. We will have a car. Our interests in the area are the Gap of Dunlo , village history and music culture. Two places we want to visit in our trip is a quality sheep herding demonstration and a Hawk - Falconry experience. I saw The old Irish Farm House and a couple other B&B but would appreciate real travelers opinions and advice on this. Also, where are the best places to enjoy these experiences We will be exploring South West Ireland and want to make the most of our time there as we have the 5-9 to stay in that area. Thank you We have never been to Ireland this is the first time. Is there a home base that makes more sense ? Thank you Mark and Val
In 2019 we went on the Heart of Ireland tour and stayed at the Milltown House B&B in Dingle for 2 nights.

It was actually owned by our wonderful RS guide Stephen. The location was convenient to walk into town, very scenic and very quiet. The breakfasts were wonderful in the conservatory and the rooms were comfortable. They had a scone and bread making demonstration for us in the kitchen as well, yum! They had arranged a Hawk-Falconry experience for us in the side yard and it was absolutely amazing.
Be sure to go to Dingle Crystal for the glass demonstration. We had personalized leather belts made for hubby and my two sons at Dick Mack’s; an interesting bar where you can watch the leather crafter make your belts off to the side. Lots of places to see music in the evenings in Dingle as well. You will love it!
We enjoyed Bambury's in 2023 and will be there again in May. Our room had a long view of town, but it isn't like being on the waterfront or hillside. Quiet, parking, great breakfast, stone's throw to the town center, and Bernie is a great hostess. Happy to do laundry while you're out and about, and I believe RS tours use them on occasion.
St. James Church hosts music three days a week, and there is a trad session somewhere every evening. We have border collies and hawks diving our ducks year-round, so herding and falconry aren't on our bucket list.
We have stayed several times in the Lighthouse and twice in the Cjlli Brach. Both were great, excellent meal, Park out front and great view from front. Cilli Brach has an upstairs balcony great to sit on at end of night with a glass of wine and watch the harbor. Enjoy Dingle!
