Hello all fine people. We will be in Ireland for Christmas this year. We have booked into Beckett Locke, north of the Liffey from Dec 27-Jan1...I'm a little concerned I've read a few comments not very complimentary about the north side there and wondering if I should try a different spot? We have been to Ireland a few times, but have not stayed in Dublin before and I need some advice! Thank you in advance!
I think that area has come up quite a bit in the last few years. It's a bit of a walk into the center of town where a lot of the tourist sites are, but it should put you in a good position to see the fireworks at the Custom House on NYE. I was in Dublin that week in 2018, and it was great. No one around. We were practically alone in EPIC.
Thank you so much for your reply, I've been stressing about it...had posted the ? On a couple of different sites with no responses so that worried me too!
The Beckett Locke is only about a kilometer from EPIC and the Custom House so I would think it should be fine. If by uncomplimentary remarks you are referring to the riots last winter those occurred on Upper O'Connell St. I don't think there's been a repeat of anything like that since. I think your only worry about being that far east is that it is mostly a business district so dinner places may be fewer and far between.
