Baggage limit on Aran Islands ferries?

Lots of luggage gets taken on the ferry. There are luggage racks, but no problem if they get full. They will make room. They can easily handle whatever your plane allowance is.

There’s a ferry (maybe more than one?) to near Doolin. Back in 2011, we were going by bicycle, so we had bikes plus our gear and clothing in packs. The ferry crew at Rossaveal helped us get everything aboard for the crossing to Inishmore. We spent the night, and the next morning was very rainy. It was uncertain if, and when the ferries could sail, waiting for sufficiently calm seas.

After noon, the weather had cleared, and we caught the eastbound ferry. It made a stop on Inisheer, the smallest of the three Aran islands, before continuing on to the dock on the mainland. As we approached the shore, we got a view from the water of the Cliffs of Moher. Of course, moments later, a torrential downpour was happening again. Doolin is a couple miles inland and uphill from that dock, and we rode our bikes. I’m not sure how others got to, or beyond Doolin.

The next trip, 2018, we flew. It costs more than the ferries, but is much faster, and not so dependent on the weather. Planes often can fly when boats can’t sail. But the planes are small, and so is the luggage space. And the planes don’t fly to Doolin.

Do you happen to know if you can take a ferry from Inismore to Doolin?

Sailing times here. You will need to contact them to ask about a single ticket from Inismor back to Doolin as the booking form on the website only has return tickets.

Does anyone have info about best way to get from Inishmore to Shannon airport? We need to get to London to fly back to US. Already have tickets, otherwise I would have planned to fly directly from Shannon to US
