Aug: 11 day Road Trip, Where should we stop nightly!?

I need some guidance! Will arrive Dublin August 15 with my 13 yr old daughter, my 80 yr old mom and my sister. We won't attempt to see ALL of Ireland as we don't want to be in the car the whole trip...will head south from Dublin then west and north. Don't imagine we'll go past Galway(maybe to Sligo?) before heading back to Dublin for departure 26 Aug. We have taken several road trips in the past where we stayed only one night in each town. Was hoping to stay two nights in a row in 3 or 4 places and then a night or two in Dublin. I just don't know what places would serve us best for those 2 night stays. We will "do" the standard sightseeing and hiking along the way. We would enjoy staying in towns as opposed to further out. Would love to do at least one farm B & B stay, as well. I have found some amazing properties on Farm Stay Planet. Any help with itinerary would be appreciated.

We did a similar trip a few years ago. I would suggest that you borrow from the library or buy the RS Ireland guide. You can see what sights most interest you and what would make a reasonable driving itinerary. We spent nights in Dublin (3) Killkenny (2) Dingle (3) and Galway (3). It will depend, of course, on what you want to see and do. Do your 11 days include travel days to and from Ireland?

You will get the most of your trip if you travel to a couple of places and do day trips out of there. That will allow you to travel as fast or as slow as you want to without rushing.
When we were there last May, we went to the far southwest end of Ireland and did road trips around the Ring of Kerry, visited Kilarney, Portmagee and Waterville. We also visited Cork and Dublin on the same trip.

Lodging: If Kilkenny is on your itinerary, take a look at Lawcus Farm Guesthouse (http://www.lawcusfarmguesthouse.com/). We had a very enjoyable stay there in May 2018. The rooms are excellent; Ann Marie's breakfasts wonderful; the farm critters cute and friendly. (My wife still talks about bottle-feeding the baby lamb each of 3 mornings in the lovely breakfast room/greenhouse.) It's a short drive up to the town of Kilkenny, but there are some interesting tourist sites close to the Farm. If this looks interesting, plan to stay at least 2 nights; it's hard to leave.

PS - Send PM if you'd like feedback on an AirBnB in either Dingle or Doolin, both suitable for your travel squad.
