I arrive at the Dublin Airport at 5 AM on a Friday in August; stay at Trinity College on that night and leave on a Paddywagon tour the next day at 9 AM. I will be very tired on Friday after a long overnight flight.
What could I do in the Trinity College area on that Friday and where could I eat to get me out and about for a bit on Friday?
Please respond.
Thanks
I personally like to treat myself to a nice meal at almost any time. So right away, The Pig's Ear caught my eye for their lunch or early-bird dinner menu. But there are certainly cheaper options in the neighborhood, as well as coffee and breakfast places. You'd be able to be the first one in line for the Book of Kells with the advantage of not having to walk far to get there (or you can buy tickets online in advance).
My husband and I enjoyed meals at Brannigan's Bar off of O'Connell Street. 9 Cathedral Street is the address. About a 10 minute walk from Trinity College. Good fish and Chips, Guinness Stew and of course Guinness! Good portions and good prices.
A healthy place to eat, located a few blocks from Trinity College, is The Farm at 3 Dawson St. They don't open until noon, but when it comes lunch time you might want to give it a try. http://www.thefarmfood.ie/
If you can get into your room that early, allow yourself two hours nap - but no more. Set your alarm clock and place it where you cannot reach it from the bed. Then you will be in much better shape to appreciate the city.
