Arriving in Cork December 27 need to be in Dublin On December 30

Hello,

My family (4 adults-50ish year old parents & 22 year old boy/girl twins) will be arriving at the Cork airport on December 27, 2018 in the afternoon. We are looking for some suggestions. First, places to stay, eat and visit in the Cork area. I've been exploring AirBNB and it looks like Cork City, Cobh and Kinsale are areas reasonably close to the airport for a one night stay. Any input as to the best choice would be great. Next we are trying to decide which way to go for a drive around before ending up in Dublin on the 30th for the New Year. Looking at a map it looks like a drive through Killareny, Cliffs of Moher, Shannon/Limerick areas then cutting over to Dublin might be possible. Other options north towards Cashel area or east towards Waterford area?? We have never been to Ireland, knowing the short hours of daylight and weather might be limiting we are hoping for some input. Thank you in advance.

Personally, I would spend a night in Kinsale, do a tour of Charles Fort, walk the town, have some great food (Kinsale is known as the gourmet capital of Ireland). I think driving towards Killarney and Cliffs of Moher would be too much driving for such a short stay. I would go for Cashel/Kilkenny/Glendalough. Staying closer to Dublin will mean short drives in the car, therefore, more time to see some sights.

Thank you for your response and helpful information. I will focus my search for a place to spend the night to Kinsale. I have not done much looking at Cashel as we were hoping to make it to the Cliffs of Moher, but I will definitely look into your suggestions.
