Are most B&B's closed in December in Ireland?

I've been emailing places to stay for our up and coming trip in September 2020, most don't reopen, saying they're closed till March or May and aren't taking reservations. I could understand not being open for accommodations, but I found it strange that they wouldn't just write down a reservation.

I like to plan way ahead to be sure we have places to stay, should I just try it or places or wait to Spring to start booking?

Thanks in advance,

Toni

Toni I ran into the same thing last December trying to book for a May vacation. My observation is that Ireland is less crowded than other places. You can probably wait until Spring to book. I booked 4 months out for a thirty day trip.

Katheryne thank you! I'll just try and relax and get back to booking in a few months. I'm a big planner, it's so hard for me to wait. Lol

Oh my and I thought I had proofread the original post! Stupid autocorrect!! I meant reopen not reaping and I have no idea what the two sizes are. Lol. That's embarrassing 😅

Wurundjeri, that certainly puts my mind at ease. We've only been to Europe once, definitely a different pace then the US. Thank you

Many bed and breakfast totally close during the winter months so just wait until maybe February if you must book ahead. We only book our first night ahead and only once in ten trips did we have a problem just pulling up to a place or calling in the morning and that was in Kinsale during the Jazz festival. Oh how you will love Ireland !!!!!

I can recommend Mena House B&B in Kilkenny and Craglea Lodge B&B in Lahinch. Coffey’s Rivers Edge in Killorglin was across the street from where we stayed. Looked really nice with a lovely location on the water.
