I would love to hear some thoughts on a day trip to the Aran Islands in October and a 2 night stay in Doolin. As always thank you for any and all thoughts. We are very easy going love a great walk and a good meal.
October weather can be less than calm. The Doolin Ferry suffers weather cancellations when the Rossaveal ferry does not. Sometimes, they all get scrubbed. Just be prepared for a last minute dash to make the Rosseveal ferry if the weather is only half-bad. The Doolin ferry is smaller and has to cross a longer, more exposed route.
If your trip includes Galway, just shift the Aran trip to that day. Knowing the surrounding plan would produce better advice.
You could just have a non-Aran backup plan to Ennis, Enistymon, or the Burren in case of weather.
Thank you very much for the feeback.
It’s been six years now, but I remember Inishmore as my favorite weekend since my honeymoon. The land is beautiful, the folks are welcoming and Joe Motty’s bar is a fantastic pub.
Sorry if I'm hijacking this post, but 4 of us will be staying at Galway in mid October and I am curious how rough the boat ride is to the Aran Islands. There are a few of us that get motion sickness very easily. I realize the sea state largely depends on the weather but as a retired sailor I know that the N Atlantic can get rather rough.
