How far in advance should we book our daytrip ferry tickets from Galway to Inishmoor? We plan to visit in early/mid July, 2023.

I don't believe you need a reservation unless their is some special event going on.

The ferry hardly ever fills up so you can usually wait and check the weather forecast a day or two before your proposed trip before committing to anything.

There is a ticket office that is not far from where the bus picks you up to take you the ferry in Galway.
