I continue to work on this itinerary. Friends have convinced my husband that we do need a rental car to best explore the western coastline. This is a VERY BIG deal for us!
So that obviously has changed the plans - a little- more on that later. Maybe we will find a cool castle for lodging?
Regarding possible rental car:
Tentatively we are picking a rental car up in Cork, probably at the airport. We will then travel to Dingle and up the coastline- yes, this is vague at this point. We will probably have the rental car 5-7 days.
Is it better to return the car at Galway City somewhere or Dublin airport? AI said the signage at the Dublin airport was sparse and thus confusing.Would Galway be easier, and we would then take an AirPort Express bus into Dublin.
We would return the car the day before our flight home.
Our last night we are staying in Malahide, at the Grand Hotel. Does this change anything? Seems easy to get from the Dublin airport to Malahide. I doubt there's a rental car return in Malahide, but that would be great.
Once again, looking to you wise and experienced folks to help with the practical issues. Thanks once again.
