Went pre-covid for two weeks first weeks in April. Did the BnB route to the Southwest out of Shannon. Beautiful country. Friendly people. Wonderful cuisine. Weather was Irish--pnly rained on days ending in "Y".

This may be of little help, but we were in Ireland for a full month last year, starting early May. It was mild (jacket helpful) and dry most days, with just one day that was an absolute gully-washing downpour. This was in South-central Ireland, west of Cork, and later farther west, in County Kerry. Maybe 3 weeks earlier would be very different.

Hello, we were in Ireland for 2 weeks in April in 2023. Only had 1 day of rain but definitely cold and windy several days. Did fine with a sweater, warm coat and hat. A magical place, beautiful and the people all very friendly.

April is our favorite month to visit Ireland - the gardens and the countryside are in the full bloom of Spring and there are fewer crowds to deal with.
The tradeoff is indeed the weather which can be pretty unsettled - ranging from sunny, temperate, and dry for days at a time to the occasional "all four seasons in one day" experience if you happen to be there when a cold front passes thru. Best advice is to hope for the best but plan (and pack) for the worst ... with a waterproof (goretex or the equivalent) outer shell and warm layers underneath that can be stripped off as conditions require. Waterproof pants and boots aren't a bad idea either, especially if you plan to do any hiking off the beaten path.
We've been caught out a couple of times when the rain and sleet started to come in sideways, but the weather passed so quickly that we had barely donned our waterproofs before conditions stabilized and it was time to peel them off again.
Bottom line is that April is a great month to visit.

April and May are the two best months to visit Ireland; I was once in Ireland in May. Spring is arriving, and the island greens almost immediately. The grass blooms, too.

We were in Ireland at the end of March 2024 (right before April), and the weather was generally is the high 40s and low 50s (Galway, Dingle, and Dublin). It was drizzly on some days, really rainy one day, and primarily overcast overall. Apparently, it was a bit rainier than usual, and all our hosts/hoteliers apologized to us for the rain. ☺️ I'm thinking you will have more sun and perhaps slightly warmer weather, but who knows. That said, it was my family's favorite trip of all time and the weather did not seem to be a hindrance. I say go and enjoy. It is a beautiful and wonderful place to visit.
