Anything open in Dingle in February?

We're planning a 9 day trip to Ireland in February 2017. We've heard so many glowing things about Dingle that we definitely want to make that one of our stops. However, looking at B&B's, very few are open until March or later. It made me wonder if the rest of the town is pretty much shut down at that time. Trying to decide between one or two nights there. If the majority of the town is shuttered, we'd probably do just one night in order to drive the Dingle Peninsula. If it's still relatively lively at that time of year, probably two.

Any input appreciated!

Amber: I have been to Dingle twice, but in October and July, the latter for a walking hike. Dingle Town is big enough that some restaurants and sights will be open, but that's a guess. Most of the great antiquities of Dingle should be open or can be seen in February: the beehive huts, Gallarus Oratory, Menard Castle. Despite visiting Dingle twice, I've never taken on the boat to Blasket Island. I've heard it's pretty nice. Look in your guide to see if visits are available in February. In the end, I'd say two nights and one day are worth it. Just driving the ring of Dingle is pretty nice anytime of year.

Thanks, Craig. Very helpful. And all the things you listed are what we're really interested in seeing anyway.

I am fairly sure the Lighthouse B&B is open in February. it is a lovely place just a short walk into town. Stayed twice. Last October we went to the Blasket Island center end of October and it was already closing for the Have been there five times already and Dingle is certainly worth it. Just remember it will be dark by about five pm.

I was there in February., and while there might have been some hotels closed we found the town had everything we needed. We were only there for the day but shops, restaurants, etc, we're all open. I enjoyed that time of year... Few tourists, but lots of friendly Irish.

Hi Amber

Greetings from Dingle!

There'll be plenty of things open in February, don't worry, nothing is shuttered. About half of the very good restaurants are closed, but this means there will be about 10 great restaurants definitely open!

Nearly all the guesthouses re-open in February - Emlagh House, Castlewood house and one other etc - and both hotels - The Skellig and Benners Hotel.

Sean Daly the crystal man will be cutting crystal, there'll be music each night in the courthouse pub, and the beautiful coastal drives will be as splendid as ever!
