For our Ireland trip, I enlisted some help from an outside source to pick our places. I was familiar with most except Clonakilty. It's apparently close to Kinsale (which is where I originally wanted to stay.) Any one have experience or knowledge of this little town?

My husband , son and I stayed there for several nights about 15 years ago. My teenage (then) son was interested in a fishing trip which we did out of Courtmacsherry. We used it as a base to explore the Cork area, do a day trip to the Waterford Factory, do a kayaking trip off the Downpatrick Head area and visit Kinsale. It was very non-touristy then. We were probably the only Americans in the town. We also visited Fota Animal Park, and played golf at a 6-hole golf course (you go around 3 times!) which was pretty difficult. I have to say that then, I thought Kinsale was packed with tourists.
