Aer Lingus Regional flights Advantage?

I’m flying Aer Lingus Dublin to Leeds and paid for Advantage. It includes 10kg carryon and checked bags. I have a feeling my carryon is too large as it’s a regional flight operated by Emerald. (Need to be 7kg)

Does anyone know if I can check it at the gate with Advantage? I haven’t been able to find out. I’m hesitant to just check it and would rather do so at the gate if required .

Thanks in advance!

Your on a turboprop aircraft. The overhead bins are smaller than a jet. Your carry on bags can be no larger than 18.5" x 13 " x 8 "

The gate agents will not allow you to carry it on. It just won't fit.

If you don't stop at check in, and go straight to the gate, they will check it in at the gate but you will still have to get it at baggage claim.

I fly turboprops all the time and I just check it in at the bag drop to make life easier. I also get an electronic tracking receipt. You may not get that at the gate.

Since you have an Advantage ticket, the 35 Euro/GBP charge does not apply to you. With Advantage you get to take one carry on bag up 7kg (regional flight) and one checked bag up to 20 kg.

The charge is for those flying on a fare that does not include either one of those.

Having read the web page before posting that is not at all how it reads to me, nor It seems to the OP.

It reads pretty clearly to me as that if your carry on exceeds either the required dimensions or the allowed 7kg weight for DUB to LBA (and you are caught) it will be taken off you and gate checked. If that occurs you will be charged the £35/35 Euro, whatever class you are in. I can understand them having a sizer at the gate, but scales?

Maybe the agent will be lenient and waive the charge, especially if you are nice to them and accept it without a debate.

The OP hasn't stated whether her carry on exceeds weight or size. If happy to.run the chance of being checked and stopped then the answer to the question asked is that you can pretty clearly (from the rules on the website) gate check it. But you may well have to pay to do so.

Presumably this charge is to try to stop people playing the system.

This from the Aer Lingus website:

Avoid €35/£35 bag fee...
If you bring your 10kg bag to the boarding gate and have not purchased a 10kg Carry-on bag or it is not included in your booking, you will be charged a €35 fee to place this bag in the aircraft hold.

The OP has an Advantage fare that includes the 10kg Carry On Bag. It says that if you have NOT purchased this or it is included in your booking, you will be charged the fee.

Again, the OP has the ability to take the bag for carry on. If it determined too big, the airline will check it. And.... the fare category the OP posted also includes a checked bag.

What they are trying to do is to prevent people buying the lowest fare from trying to take a larger carry on.

The OP will be fine.
