advice on where to Covid test prior to leaving for Ireland

I am scheduled for a Rick Steves Ireland tour in mid-April.
What is the best way to get the required Covid test prior to leaving?
I am hoping to find a free avenue for testing, but not sure if that is possible.
I am also worried about the test being returned in the time I need it.

Where do you live? Where are you flying from? Will you arrive in Ireland earlier than 48 hours before the tour starts?

Rochester, New York.

We fly out of Rochester on the evening of Friday, April 15th- a short layover in Newark and then on to Shannon, Ireland.
We arrive in Shannon early morning on Saturday, April 16th. The tour starts on Sunday, April 17th.

Will I need a negative COVID-19 test prior to joining a tour?

Maybe. For departures (currently through April 30, 2022) you need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 viral test (PCR, antigen, or at home telehealth tests are accepted) taken within 48 hours of the first day of your tour. We may extend testing requirements and will notify you by email 30 days prior to your tour departure if you will need a negative test. The countries you're visiting may also require proof of a negative COVID-19 test for entry

No clue about 'free' being available where you are

And do not overlook this requirement

Will I need a COVID-19 vaccination to join a tour? And what about boosters?

Yes, to participate in a Rick Steves tour we require all tour members to be fully vaccinated (received all recommended doses in their primary series) and up to date with booster doses (when eligible). Get more details about staying up to date on COVID vaccines from the CDC.
