Advice needed: Dublin to Edinburgh

We will be ending a tour in Dublin on 21, March, 2023 and wish to get to Edinburgh, Scotland as soon as possible after that.

Would it be possible to take the train from Dublin to Belfast, Stena ferry from Belfast Port to Cairnrylan, bus or train to Glasgow, and take the train from Glasgow to Edinburgh in one day?

OR,
Would this trip require an overnight hotel stay in Belfast in order to catch a morning ferry to Scotland?

Are you set against flying?

A quick look shows typical fares of €80 on Aer Lingus and as low as €18.

At first the train + ferry arrangement looked attractive BUT flying saves hassles!

A quick look means the bus/train/ ferry/bus train combo would get you to Edinburgh in a day but it's about 13 hours transit time.
Not a lot of fun to be had there and the Irish sea is notoriously rough
When the fast catamarans were brought in on the Stranraer to Belfast route ( my sister used it semi often) they got the nickname vomit- comet
