We wish to book seats on two separate intercity Irish Rail trips (Dublin to Kilkenny, and Kilkenny to Tralee) and would appreciate knowing how far in advance those tickets go on sale to get the best discount.
Thanks much!

I just purchased some other routes on Irish Rail for about 1 month out. The difference between the lowest fare and full flex fare was only 2 euros. Neither of the tickets were that expensive. I don't know what other people's experiences are, but I'm not sure that these tickets are heavily discounted......
Repulic of Ireland rail tickets are cheaper online than at the station. Various discounts apply between 90 days and 90 minutes in advance of the train departure: http://www.irishrail.ie/webfares.
Thanks for all the great input. Our trip is two months away, so I'll keep checking with Irish Rail when we hit the 60 days in advance mark that Rick's mentions in his guidebooks.
I have been trying to purchase two point to point to point tickets (Dublin to Belfast Aug. 31 & Galway to Dublin Sept 7, 2018). But at their website they ask for an "international or Irish phone number" in order to book. I have neither, and will not be in Ireland until Aug. 29th. Can anyone advise me if there is a way around this so I can purchase my rail tickets before I leave my USA home?
King, enter your USA phone number with a +1 in front of it. That's the country code for USA and Canada.
