Adapter for the rental vehicle

I am renting a vehicle while in Ireland in June. I want to be able to use my cell phone just incase I need it for directions. Do I need to get an international car adapter? People ask, why do you not use the navigation in the vehicle? The navigation systems I have seen that my relatives have in their vehicles were sorted by the towns in Ireland, I found that difficult to use because I don't know the names of a lot of the towns.

Most modern cars have built-in USB ports in the dash that work the same as in the US. I usually brought along one of those portable devices that slips into the cigarette lighter port but hardly ever used it. Either one will work fine for you.

Hi from Wisconsin,
A confidence booster. We used a cigarette plug/USB to charge our devises. Under $5. These days it is easier to find the car's USB port than the cigarette lighter.

Be sure to research your phones plan for Ireland regarding data etc. Depending on where you intend to travel you may have some issues with no signal for your cell so I would have a paper map available. I agree, the purchase of a lighter attachment would be a good idea. I took my Garmin GPS and loaded Ireland map on it for a few dollars and used it because my cell phone plan would not work over there. My GPS plugged into the cars cigarette lighter. I used the GPS and paper map quite often! The cigarette lighter on the car I rented in Dublin was compatible with my Garmin gps plug.

I’m in France right now with a rental car. I use a plug that goes into the cigarette lighter for my phone. I brought it from home. I also brought a mount that attaches to an air vent, but the rental car has a mount in it. I wouldn’t count on that though.
