9 days in Ireland - I have to redo!

I had my itinerary all planned starting in Shannon and leaving from Dublin - Using our air miles I can not fly into or out of Shannon, so we are now flying into Dublin and out of Cork (to France)

We arrive at 8:45 am April 21 and plan on just giving Dublin 2 days
Day 3 - Glendalough and end in Kilkenny
Day 4 - Rock of Cashel ...and that is where I get hung up

our original itinerary had us going to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Dingle (2 nights) and the ring of Dingle
and 2 nights in Kinsale. Because it's no longer as nice west to south to north-east route, I get bogged down on the order and if I should delete places and add others. The Ring of Dingle I really do not want to miss.

Any suggestions?

How about this order?
Dublin across to Galway (whether or not you visit, that is the route) and down to the Cliffs of Moher/Burren.
Cliffs area south to Killimer-Tarbert Ferry across the River Shannon to Dingle (Slea Head Drive, not Ring of Dingle).
Dingle to Kinsale, Kinsale to Cork.
Depending on how you want to time everything (amount of time, where to stop), you would also have time to see Rock of Cashel and Cahir, Cobh, or several other things that are nearby to your Cork departure point. I haven't looked at ViaMichelin, but you might even be able to get to Glendalough. Even if you miss some things you wanted to do originally, you really can't go wrong with whatever you choose. It will always be there when you get back.

Day 3 will be a long one. You have 2.5 hours of driving, total. Are you planning to see both Glendalough and Powerscourt (they are separate places)? Glendalough has a small museum, monastic ruins, and hiking trails to the lake. Then you would have the drive to Powerscourt and you will need time to see it. What do you want to do or see in Kilkenny? It will be at least mid-afternoon by the time you get there, and you intend to leave the next day. If it were me, I would cut something (Powerscourt or Kilkenny).

I'm not sure how to advise you on Day 4 and 5. You could probably easily do the Cliffs on Day 4. Otherwise, you will get to Doolin in the mid-afternoon and have nothing to do. The Cliffs are better in the afternoon, anyway, because the light is on them. If you look at the map, you might be able to order these days a little better (not sure what you want to do in Kilfenora or Ballyvaughn themselves) to make more of a circle instead of backtracking. Depending on what you want to do, you might start heading south toward Dingle instead of spending a second night in Doolin.

Take the Killimer-Tarbert ferry, since it will save you going around past Limerick and be more direct toward Dingle.

Thank you so much for your help. Having never been there, I am making my decision by what I read in Rick Steve's book.

Day 3 - We were just going to do the gardens of Powerscourt (recommended by R.S.) If that makes any difference. As far as Glendalough goes - how much time do you think we need to plan on spending there?
In R.S. book it says that Kilkenny is one of the inland's lovelist cities. I was thinking it would be a nice place for dinner and a place to stay...if you have a better suggestion I am definitely open.

Day 4 - Rock of Cashel and on to Doolin

Day 5 - I was thinking of driving to Kelfinora then up to Balyvaughn and then back down the cost to Doolin, so it would be a loop- again R.S. has that drive outlined in his book as the best way to see the Burren. Then we will go to the Cliffs of Mohr - and then to Dingle???

Day 6 - Drive the Dingle penninsula

Day 7 - Spend morning in Dingle - afternoon drive to Kenmare - Stay the night there

Day 8 - drive to Kinsale

Day 9 - In and around Kinsale

Again, thank you so much for your time and input - it is so very helpful!

How about...

Day 4 -Drive 1.5 hr to the Rock of Cashel (2 hrs there) lunch and on to Cliffs of Moher (a 2.5 hr drive) then ½ hr to Doolin

Day 5 -drive ½ hr to Kelfinora to Ballyvaughan thru the Burren - go from Ballyvaughan to Ennis–Lunch there and on to Dingle (4hrs)

Day 4 works that way. And Day 5 is ok, too. As for Powerscourt, this trip is in April, right? Not sure how garden-y things will be in April. I spent about 90 minutes at Glendalough, but would have stayed longer if the weather had been better.

Yes, RS loves Kilkenny. I didn't find it all that charming, though I did enjoy the Design Center across from the castle. Parking was a problem there (we were there in April, too). We did not stay in Kilkenny but my parents stayed in a nice B&B on the outskirts.

great in put! - we will not go to Powerscourt and devote more time to Glendalough and then on to Kilkenny and see if you or Rick is right :-)
Thank you so much
