9 day trip without a car. Help needed with coordinating transportation

My daughter and I are taking our first trip to Ireland with a last minute ticket purchase landing us in Dublin Oct 1 and flying out Oct 10. We ideally would like to see the sights around Doolin area and then the Dingle peninsula with time to spare to see Dublin a few days. And we don’t want to drive!
Should we fly into Galway and the hire a private driver/guide? Are there other ideas out there? Welcome your input.

If you can fly into Galway or Shannon, then out of Dublin it will save you a lot of time. You really only have 8 days of sightseeing, and the areas you want to see are pretty spread out (and remote). We drove through all these areas, so I don’t know much about public transportation in Ireland. I would start by googling “Doolin bus tours” “Dingle bus tours” etc. I took a small bus tour while in Scotland, and this was a good way to see the countryside without having to drive. There were about 20 people on the bus and we went to a lake, castle and distillery. There are probably similar tours day tours in Ireland.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I will also look into private car service if anyone has recommendations?

There's a gent named Tony McGann based in Doolin that many here recommend. Use the search function for more particulars and his contact info.

Out of curiosity I googled whether Galway has an airport. It apparently does. However, it is closed to commercial traffic. http://www.galwayairport.com/ Even if it was possible to fly from Dublin to Galway I think it wouldn’t be worth it since you can take a bus from Dublin Airport to Galway city center in about 2.5 hours. The buses leave regularly from outside the terminal.

My husband and I took a nine day trip without a car this past July. You will not regret hiring drivers. It was one of the best decisions we've ever made! We flew in and out of Shannon, so I can't speak to the Dublin component. However, the rest of our trip was a similar itinerary. We visited Galway, Inishmore, Doolin, Dingle and Kenmare.

Below are the drivers we used. They were all excellent. Paul Brown and Peter Mooney helped me a lot answering questions prior to the trip. Paul found Gillian for us, as he was not available for the day we needed to get to Ennis.

Peter Mooney Tours (Took us from Galway on a tour of the Connemara region and then a second day from Doolin to Dingle)

Paul Brown - http://www.kenmaretaxitours.com/about-us.html. (Touredus from Dingle to Kenmare, then we spent a second day with him around the Ring of Kerry.

Gillian Weldon - http://killarneyprivatetours.com/your-driver-guide/ (drove us from Kenmare to Ennis)

Pricing was comparable for all of them.

Have a great trip!

Thank you rrsciullo and earlier responders. This has been so helpful to me. I’ve taken all your advice and feel solid about not choosing to drive a rental car but to take trains, taxis, and private tour and driving services.
This last list so carefully compiled is priceless!
