I'm going to book a trip to Ireland in the late spring and wondered if 8 or 14 days is preferred. My husband is not big on travelling so is the 8 day trip long enough? Coming from the west coast of the US it's a long flight for just 8 days. Thoughts? Thanks.
My preference is always for a longer trip, partly because of the cost of airfare and the 9-hour flight each way. It sounds like you're comparing the two versions of Rick Steves Tours for Ireland and I definitely like the additional destinations that the longer tour covers.
With the eight day tour, you can add a couple of days on either or both end on your own. But really its a personal preference.
14 days for sure.
It is indeed a very long flight for only 8 days in the country, and you'll barely have time to scratch the surface in that short a time whether you go with an organized tour or do it independently. Stay as long as you can and savor one of the prettiest countries in Europe.
