8 day Ireland tour with RS

I have just signed up for the 8 day Ireland tour and would like some advice from the forum folks that have been there, (Ireland) on additional things to do outside the tour, as well as our "free time". I can add on 4.5 days on either end, we are hikers and photographers, so looking for that type of advice. How is the public transportation? Not keen on renting a car. The Cliff Walk from Bray to Greystones sounds interesting, anyone done this? Its only 4.5 miles(7 kilo) long, and then ride the train back? Glendalough? Powers court? The tour starts in Ennis and ends in Dublin, and it is in October. So trying to concentrate on areas close to there. :)

We took a day bus tour from Dublin to Glendalough. It also went to Kilkenny-don't know if Kilkenny is on rick Steves tour or not. We really enjoyed the tour-Glendalough is both beautiful and peaceful.

I don't think the tour covers Galway and environs, does it? You might add that on pre-tour. I am considering this tour at sometime in the near future because of the short length which will fit in with my work schedule. I have been to Galway before. Any Saw Doctors fans post here? - a local band, BTW.
