I will be traveling with my nephew in July. We will be flying from Edinburgh; I haven't booked that flight yet because I'm not sure whether to fly into Shannon or Cork. I plan to spend our first 4 nights somewhere and the last 2 nights in Dublin before we fly home. We are interested in visiting Killarney National Park and Dingle. I'd also love to get to Galway if possible, as I've heard it's a fun little city, but recognize it might be too much. My nephew would really like to stay in a castle. I don't think I want to rent a car as I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be driving on the left, especially on some of the narrow, winding roads. But if we don't have a car, what's the best way to travel from city to city? Should we pick a central home base and stay in one place for 4 nights or continue to move from hotel to hotel as we tour around? Thanks for any advice!
If you're not enthusiastic about driving, don't. For such a short stay, I suggest flying into Shannon and staying in Killarney. You can use Rabbie's and/or Paddywagon for day trips to Dingle, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher. I can't help with the castle stay, but if you search this site, you might find some mentions.
