5 night Ireland itinerary March

Hi. Looking for itinerary advice for upcoming trip to Ireland with 19 year old daughter in March.

We won’t be renting a car and have decided to overnight in Dublin and Killarney. We would like to include some of these places and trying to figure out the best way possible.

Day 1 arrive Dublin/Tour Dublin/Dublin hotel.
Day 2 Morning in Dublin then train to Killarney/Killarney hotel.
Day 3 bus tour Ring of Kerry or Dingle/Killarney hotel.
Day 4 another tour - but would like to see Kenmare not sure how to include/Killarney hotel.
Day 5 Morning in Killarney. Train back to Dublin. Spend few hours. Head to Dublin airport for flight out next morning/Dublin airport hotel.

Do you think any private tours necessary to get around to see more places and/or get back to Dublin? Or just stick to train/tours? Considering taking a tour from Dublin to get closer to Killarney and not returning with tour (read on another post) as a way to get to Killarney but may be too difficult.

Would love to hear suggestions! Thank you.

If you are really set on getting down to Killarney without a car then this is the best way to do it. But, you will be spending a lot of time getting there and back as the train trip is about four and a half hours. Since the day you arrive in Killarney you will be able to take a look around town I don't think you need to spend another morning in the town. You would be better off getting an early train back to Dublin to spend a bit more time there. While in Killarney I wouldn't be trying to find the time to see another town, your time would be better spent doing a day trip to either the Dingle Peninsula or the park and the Gap of Dunloe. Personally, with just five days I would not attempt this as it's just too much time wasted sitting on a train. I would spend the whole five days in Dublin as there are lots of great day tours you can do from there, and many interesting things in the city. My second option would be to go to Galway as the train trip is only half the time as getting to Killarney, and there are many interesting things to see in that area, also.

Train probably is the best option for getting to and from Killarney short of hiring a private car. Depending on what you like to do, you could easily spend your second full day in Killarney at the park. If Kenmare is a top priority you could spend part of your day in the park and then look into taking a taxi to Kenmare. Rome2Rio estimates cab fare at $45-60 one way. If budget allows maybe a private car could take you around the park and then to Kenmare and back. I’ve seen recommendations for drivers on the Ireland forum.

Would this be better?

Day 1 arrive Dublin/Tour Dublin/Dublin hotel.
Day 2 day tour Wicklow Kilkenny/Dublin hotel.
Day 3 train to Galway/Galway hotel.
Day 4 day tour from Galway/Galway hotel.
Day 5 Train back to Dublin.
Head to Dublin airport for flight out next morning/Dublin airport hotel.

Or skip Wicklow/Kilkenny tour and go straight to Galway?
