5 days

Is it worth it?
My daughter and I would like to plan a trip to Ireland in late April/early May. Unfortunately I only have a 7 day window due to a chemo schedule. Figuring a day for travel to and from, that leaves us 5 to see some of the country.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

Yes, I think it's worth it. Good luck to whomever is having the chemo treatment.

You might actually have six full days, if you fly a red eye in from the night before, you'll arrive in Dublin or Shannon early in the morning, so you'd have an extra day there.

If you can fly into Shannon, consider renting a car and then either going south to the Dingle, Killarney, Ring of Kerry area, or north to the Cliffs of Moher/Doolin, the Burren, and Galway. Alternatively, if you fly into Dublin, spend a couple nights there and then head to Glendalough and Kilkenny.

There are tons of other options too, I don't mean to limit the possibilities to these. Just a few ideas.

Hi Mark, it's totally worth it! The Southwest of Ireland is most stunning in terms of scenery, with five days I would head that way. A good way to do this is to fly in to Dublin and out of Shannon, making a loop by heading south then west, and back north to the Shannon area. Of course, you could reverse that, too, and end in Dublin.

Do you plan to rent a car? Car is by far the best way to see Ireland, but you'll want to familiarize yourself with driving on the left and the unique ways of the road there.

Take a look at sights here, and post back with questions, good luck!

Alrighty then! The recommendation on the site here is 3 days in Dublin and 2 in Dingle Peninsula for a 5 day visit. I'm thinking we would fly into Dublin and out of Shannon for the return (or vice versa). Would it be best to rent a car for the trip from A to B or would driving eat up too much of our limited time?

Thanks!
Mark
