4 day trip starting in Dublin...

My boyfriend and I are flying to Dublin Wed night (landing early on Thursday morning), and we will be flying out of Dublin Monday morning. We plan to stay in Dublin only two nights (Sat and Sun).

We want to spend time in another city/village...we would land in Dublin and either train or drive from there. We don't want to have to travel too far..but want to experience something different than the city. We are looking for a healthy mix of history, culture and night life (nothing crazy but pubs with music)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Since nobody else has answered ... To the south of Dublin there's Glendalough and Kilkenny. To the north there's Bru na Boinne (Boyne Valley), castle of Trim, and Hill of Tara. If you're a big fan of racehorses, the RS guide also mentions that you can see the Irish National Stud in County Kildare, just west of Dublin.
