I saw something on social media about getting your own 3rd party car rental coverage instead of paying for full coverage through the rental company. I had never considered this. I have a car booked with Hertz in Dublin and I believe the full coverage was going to be $35, which I planned to include when picking up the car. I know if you don't get the full coverage they want to hold around $4k on your credit card. I googled and found rentalcover.com and coverage is $12/day. Below is what is covered. I'm not that good with knowing what I need to have. Normally in the US, I just use my own insurance. Has anyone done this before and now if it's sufficient with the rental company? Looking for those who have experience using this. Thanks.
What you will be covered for:
Up to US $35,000.00 in damages with zero deductible.
Covers damages caused by collision, theft, vandalism, natural disaster or any cause beyond your control while in your possession.
CDP is your primary coverage so you won’t have to file a covered claim with your personal auto policy as long as your claim does not exceed the coverage limit.
Damage-related charges and rental charges imposed by the rental company are covered.
Covers losses incurred when the rental vehicle is driven (or in the possession of) any licensed driver listed on your rental agreement.
Cancel anytime before pick-up day.
