30 Hours in Belfast with car; Lodging advice please

Hello, we are completing 2 weeks with a one night stay in or near Belfast, arriving from the Antrim Coast. We need to return the rental car at Dublin Airport by 8pm the next day.

That should give us Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday until 5 pm or so to see Belfast. We plan to visit Titanic Museum, St. George Market, eat a nice dinner, take a Black Cab tour, walk around the city, see the university, etc.

Options for lodging? I'd rather not drive into the city so I am considering staying in the suburban areas and transporting in. That seems preferable to finding an all day parking option in town and fighting the traffic out of town at 5 pm. Ideas for areas? Stay on the side toward Dublin? How terrible is the traffic? Hubs will have driven for about 2 days by then . . . Thanks!

In 2019, we used Airbnb and stayed in a neighborhood 10 minutes or so by public transportation from the center of Belfast. Parked car at Airbnb. Relied solely on public transportation. Bus stop was at end of street. Worked well.

Last year we stayed at the Ten Square Hotel. We parked the car at the Value Car Parks, 19-31 Grosvenor Rd, which is about 1000ft from the A12. Then it's a 6 minute walk. If you had massive luggage, it might be easier to get brave and drive to the hotel to drop it off, as it's pretty straight forward - not a lot of confusing turns or twists.

Sheila, thanks for your reply. Which neighborhood did you use?
jjgurley, we will only have carry on luggage so park and walk is no problem. Thanks for your advice!

It was on Old Park Road. North Belfast. I’d give you the details but they are no longer renting. It was a detached mother in law apartment. Perfect for us.
