We are planning on spending three days in Ireland before returning to the US. We would probably fly from Edinburgh Scotland after 3 days there. Would Dublin be the best place to base out of and any suggestions of must do day trips? Not in to museums - one of the travelers golf -

Base yourself in Dublin and do day trip either south (Wicklow Mts) or north (Newgrange)

Diveloonie right on the money. On the Wicklow tour make sure it includes the monastic ruins at Glendalough. One of the absolute jewels of Ireland....it is haunting and beautiful. That tour is excellent !
As they said also don't miss Newgrange it's amazing.
