3 day Home Base in Southern Ireland

Hello, this July, my family which includes me, my wife and two college aged children will have 6 days to spend in Ireland. We plan on spending 3 nights in Dublin, but we are also looking for a home base to spend 3 nights in Southern Ireland. We have been debating between Cork and Killarney, but are open to all suggestions. We are interested in Scenic coast, quaint villages and fun pubs. Any suggestions

Thanks

I would go with Killarney. The National Park is gorgeous and there is a lot to do in it and around it. You an also more easily take day trips to places like the Cliffs of Moher from Killarney.

I like Dingle for what you have mentioned, it provides access to the Dingle Peninsula, is on the coast, great scenery, and has fun pubs. You also can visit the Ring of Kerry from Dingle but will need an early start if you do the ring. We stayed in Kenmare and did the Ring of Kerry with a great private tour (Paul Brown, awesome tour could take all four of you) and then drove the Beara Peninsula, south of Kenmare ourselves. We visited Killarney while going from Dingle to Kenmare. We did a four hour private tour of the Dingle Peninsula with Denis Ryan and he was very good. If you are doing all the driving I would suggest spending some Euro's for a private tour. The pubs in Kenmare were pretty good but you can't beat the pubs in Dingle IMO. Private message me for the B&B's we used if you want. Paul and Denis will show you some unbelievable scenic areas as well a historic sites!
