2027 Easter week in Dublin/Ireland

Our family has decided to travel to Ireland next year arriving on Good Friday (March 26) and departing the following Friday, April 2 (we still need to get tickets, waiting for prices to go down a bit). So we will have 6 days with Dublin as a base. Husband has been to Ireland multiple times, most of them in Dublin for work. Traveled around the country 25 years ago. But it will be our teen's first time to Ireland. This will be during school spring break so we are limited on this shorter timeframe.

I know hotels and housing are quite pricey in Dublin, but I wonder if a small condo might be better than a larger suite at a hotel. And would love recommendations for a condo if anyone has had good experience with it, or hotel with large room to accommodate a couple and a teen.

For Easter Sunday, any restaurant suggestion? I also assume early reservation will be needed and some might be closed.

I am hoping to get some ideas from this forum for day trips from Dublin. I think we will be able to explore the city in 4 days and I know my husband would love to get out of the city for a day or two since he never gets a chance when there for work. We like hiking (if not a torrential rain), small towns, just exploring. I know weather will be iffy at that time of year so keeping that in mind as well.

Another thought would be to go to Belfast for a couple of days since we all have never been there. We could head on Wednesday and back on Thursday afternoon. Stay at hotel near airport and fly back Friday morning. Thoughts?

I visit Ireland annually to see my family and during last month’s trip we spent 4 nights in a two bedroom condo in Sandymount that might work for you. It’s considered Dublin but is to the south of the Liffey and right on the Irish Sea. Transit into the city center is easy and takes 15 minutes by DART or slightly longer by bus. If you want the listing, dm me and I’ll send it.

My wife and I were in Dublin for Easter sunday this year, and had a great meal at the Bank On College Green. We went there with no reservation (we hardly ever bother with that), and we able to get a table. So you may well want a reservation. Great food, amazing decor, used to be a very ornate bank. Even have a replica Book of Kells by the door.

A day trip from Dublin might be Malahide. There's a nice castle to tour, and some nice pubs for dinner. Better to check if Malahide Castle is open, and you may need reservations for the tour (we didn't have reservations, but had no problem). We must be pretty lucky, I guess.

As far as Belfast, you could take a bus to the Belfast downtown train station. About 2 hours from Dublin, nice scenic drive. Our RS tour stayed at the Europa hotel, so we took the bus back to Dublin,. Europa was a very nice hotel, just a short walk to the train/bus station. Might be pretty expensive, though.

A hotel near the Dublin airport is the Premier Inn. We stay there prior to flying out in the morning. Not real fancy or ornate, but plenty nice enough for the last night. Much cheaper than right at the airport. Shuttle to/from airport costs 3 Euros, and ran every half hour.
