I have a friend who wants to visit Ireland with her family of 8 that includes 2 kids ages 2 & 4. Must visit County Donegal for geneology reasons, Dublin and Edinburg. Any suggestions? I think it is too much, especially traveling with little kids.
Kids are pretty good with travel as long as you dont cram too much in, for two weeks seems thats a goodly amount of time , i would make it a point to not do any one night stays if possible, preferably 3 night stays , but as i said, just planning a leisurly pace for kids , with play time and nap time biult in, and theres no reason it would be too much.
How are they planning on getting around, two rental cars?
2 rental cars, they want all B&B's. they want to stay in a central location yet do not want to drive a lot because of the kids. I have been to Ireland many times and the drive time between locations is often long. I guess I just think trying to do Ireland and Scotland in two weeks is rushed.
Greetings from Ireland, If you went North-West from Dublin and up to Donegal Town (or Rossnowlagh for a Donegal beach holiday) or Letterkenny and based yourselves there for a few days to a week, and then an early morning drive across to Belfast and take the ferry to Scotland (2 hours crossing on average) you'd be in Edinburgh on the same day. You could also choose to do a night or two in Belfast, lots for kids to do in that great city.
Im happy they are going to Donegal, its my native county!
