14 Day Tour - Open Meals in Kinsale and Dingle

We will be on the Sept 8th tour and would like to make dinner reservations in Kinsale and Dingle on our free nights. It is hard to do when we don’t know what kind of restaurant we might at on the nights we eat together. Anyone had experience with prior tours or particular suggestions. I’m looking at Max’s in Kinsale as it gets good reviews and is not crazy expensive. Yes,I have been accused of being an “over planner”:). Thanks!

Fishy Fishy in Kinsale was very good though I did hear good things about Max's as well.
Doyle's in Dingle may not look like much from the outside but the inside is nice and the seafood delicious. Plus it is right down the street from our favorite pub - the Dingle Pub

I find that I appreciate a “night off” from restaurant meals while on tour. I will often just picnic or grab a sandwich.

We just spent a week in Dingle and thought the food at Murphy's Pub was the best for pub food. For a really nice dinner the Chart House is great. While in Dingle don't miss the Blow-ins at the Dingle Pub or the Marina Inn.

We have not taken one of Rick's tours but use his books extensively to plan our trips. In Kinsale we enjoyed a meal at Kitty O'Se's Pub. In Dingle we also enjoyed Murphy's. There are lots of options but we found most places served essentially the same food but Kinsale restaurants seemed to have a little more variety then other parts of Ireland we visited, in my opinion.

After several days of continuous downpours last week we were not up for the full restaurant bit and had great fish and chips at Dino’s right next to fishy fishy.

We went to Fishy Fishy last August and loved it. It was our last night there and I wish we had discovered it earlier in our stay so we could have gone more than once. We made a reservation earlier in the day as we were walking by.

You might wait until the tour starts and check with your guide on where the group meal will be in both locations. Long ago on the Best of Ireland we ate at Fishy Fishy for the group meal.

Or if it looks like things are booking out, make reservations and then cancel if that is the group place.

I can't remember where we ate in Dingle. It was small and we took up the whole dining room.
