Transportation in Ireland

Hi, we were in Ireland the month of June, 2014. Rick's book on Ireland was very helpful to us. We travleled around the southern half of Ireland, using public transportation, mainly Buseirreann, which we found easy to use. The online app was helpful, buy tickets online & just display the details to the driver & get your ticket. We did splurge on 2 different days, and hired a private driver, Tony McGann from Doolin. He sent a friend to drive us from Cashel to Kenmare, a lovely drive along the Wild Atlantic Way coastal area. He also stopped at Glengarriff & waited for us while we took the ferry to Garinish Island. Then another day, Tony picked us up in Dingle & drove us over the Connor Pass, through Tralee, a stop for tea in Adare, took us to Bunratty, & through many small towns, arriving in Doolin. He let us settle in, then took us to the Cliffs of Moher, left us for an hour, then picked us up, showed us a famine memorial, and took us back to our B&B. Tony shared lots of interesting & historical info with us throughout the day. We really enjoyed it, and appreciated the extra effort he made to make the day interesting & enjoyable. We also took several local day tours, had a great time in Ireland using public transportation as well as private driver!

Ditto the recommendation for Tony McGann. He drove us last year, and we give him glowing reviews.

Sounds like you had a good trip and saw a lot :)
